This has always been a favorite ride as we venture through city streets, country-like terrain and backwoods dirt trails. The park is a bit of an anomaly and deservedly controversial. Located within the Tijuana River National Estuarine Research Reserve, the Border Field State Park sits on the very southwestern corner of the United States. On the U.S. side is a quiet open space habitat. On the Mexico side is the vibrant Playas de Tijuana. A border wall separating the US from Mexico stretches aimlessly into the sea. We’ll be on the US side. If you haven’t been here before, I urge you to join us. It’s definitely an awesome journey and an eye-opening experience. Not too many people know about this park. There’s some crazy bunkers there too. We’ll try to find them. The park has an interesting and bittersweet history. We’ll talk more about that on the ride. 👁️ Meet the Creeps at the newly renovated Pepper Park in National City on Saturday, 27 by 9:30AM. Tons of FREE parking. We’ll ride out shortly after. This creep is a fairly flat 24ish mile round trip run. Everyone is invited. Race the 2154:00 PMGroup RaceBike SD @bikesdJoin our race against the Rapid 215 Bus by bike! The 215 is the highest ridership bus line in San Diego and it is so slow that a bike is faster. Let's show the city that our most important bus is too slow, and that can be sped up by finishing the dedicated bus lane, turning on the bus priority signals, and implementing all door boarding. We will also have members riding the 215 for anyone not comfortable riding a bike.
Our route will start at Santa Fe Depot and we will follow the with 215 route, with a minor detour to Meade Ave for cyclist safety, to its end at SDSU. We'll race against the bus scheduled to leave at 4:30. The race should take about 55 minutes by bike.Santa Fe DepotDetails on IG.
