LA->SD7:30 AMGroup RideLSD San Diego @lsdsandiegoCome join us April 10th, 2025 at for a 3 day ride from LA to SD. This is going to be our 5th SAFETY NOT GUARANTEED ride. Like last year’s ride we’ll stick to mostly pavement as we ride and camp our way down the coast back home to the Finest City.
The ride starts at Santa Fe Depot in San Diego, at 0730 where we’ll catch an 0800 Amtrak up to Union Station in Los Angeles, arriving about 1100. Train fare is $36 and bikes must be registered when purchasing a ticket. https://www.amtrak.com/tickets/departure.html.
We’ll spend the rest of the day riding about 50-60 fairly flat miles, much of it along the luxuriously flat urban bike path adjacent to the LA river to our first spot, Crystal Cove State beach for a fairly steep climb to the first camp spot. From there the ride continues along the pacific coast highway. We’ll ride maybe another 60 miles, where we will camp at San Onofre State beach or maybe somewhere else (TBD). Day three will be the home stretch and we can always take a train once we get to north county. The whole trip should be about 130-140 mellow paced miles.
You will need camping gear, a bike you can ride all day, clothing for three days and a way to carry all your stuff. We will buy food as we go.
Your organizer is an experienced bicycle tourist, and this is a fairly easy tour, so there’ll probably be nothing to freak out about. If you feel compelled to always ride balls-out fast, this is not the ride for you. If you need help with a packing list just reach out. A certain level of fitness is required, but the pace will be chill, and beginner bike tourists and stealth campers are welcome.

For those who cant make the ride, we plan on being at the park by 1:45pm. There will be someone there holding down the spot
BLVD MASSACRE: this race is for those who love running red lights and reading traffic!! All are welcome to participate but please ride at 👁️YOUR OWN SKILL LEVEL🧠
That being said… this race is pretty straight forward. We will do a group ride to the intersection of el cajon blvd and Baltimore dr to drop off the racers.
From there once race starts you MUST STAY ON EL CAJON BLVD then left on PARK BLVD. Quick stop at bea evenson fountain in balboa park where you will take a pic of your bike in front of the fountain. After that get back on park blvd Heading south. Once you hit C STREET, take that left and STAY ON C STREET. You will have to climb up C street to 25th where you will take another left to GHP.
YOU NEED SOME TYPE OF GPS TO SHOW YOU DIDNT STRAY OFF THE PATH. Link for route is on our bio

The race where the pit crew has to be as fast as the racers. 24 Lap LaMans require racers to pit stop and have a pit crew ready for them when they pit. Each pit stop will have challenges that the crew has to complete before the racer leaves the pit area.
